My wife and I worked all winter on becoming Affiliates of the Amazon stores that we set-up to make a little extra income in our retirement.
We lost the $60 per month income when your Democrat controlled legislators wanted all internet income taxed.
Thanks for nothing. We needed the money and Amazon closed all affiliate stores in Minnesota.
I believe the State of Florida was wise in starting drug testing for anyone receiving welfare of any kind. I do not want to see my tax dollars spent on drugs.
Hi Governor Dayton,
I read what the police have said about not legalizing marijuana in their Coalition Concerns of 2009, but a lot of these concerns could be abated if marijuana was treated like alcohol, tobacco and prescription drugs. All three of those things are less safe than marijuana. Let's use the revenue from Marijuana to help make this state better instead of putting non-violent marijuana users in jail!
Reform to a Fair Tax or Flat Tax code. By significantly reducing income taxes and increasing sales/consumption taxes, working folks could more easily adapt to economic hardships. They could keep more of what they earn if needed by modifying their spending habits/trends. They could potentially keep more of what they earn because income taxes would be lower, and sales taxes on most goods and services would be higher. ...more »
Prevention services, various public information campaigns (ala DNR) can be done better, more effectively and efficiently by jobbing them out under competitive bid, than by hiring state staff and renting state offices. Start the conversation with, "Why should'nt this work be bid out?" rather than "Should we bid this out?"
Minnesota has an outdated law that was once used to imprison gays and lesbians. State statute 609.293 is called the sodomy law and while it pertained to both heterosexual and homosexual sexual acts, the law was used to discriminate against gays and lesbians. The law was used to imprison gay men, harass LGBT businesses, and reject LGBT rights initiatives over the course of 80 years until the Minnesota Supreme Court ...more »
Bring back chain gangs or indivisual work farms to each prison. Help make the prisons more self sufficient and it'll also give the inmates a chance to have more of a work ethic for all. Farms could teach inmates on the idea of survival such as growing their own food and show them what could be achieved through hard work. Chain gangs could be utilized to help clean the state or help fix the state and city issues that may ...more »
We’re Minnesotans! As a matter of principle we should not be teaching each other that it’s okay to be disrespectful of others by scooting ahead and not waiting your turn in line. Just because some engineer says that it is more expedient to traffic to be rude and disrespectful, doesn’t mean that expedience should win out over rudeness and disrespect. Zipper method or not, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure ...more »
Why not allow alcohol sales on Sundays? Many people near borders to other states are crossing to purchase alcohol, eliminating the pros to no alcohol sales. We are purposefully sending revenue across the boarder.
Why are social workers visiting clients that leave their county area??? They go twice a year and spend a few hours with them.. I know a social work that drives a state car 6 hours one way. and gets a paid hotel over night stay.to see a client that moved away.. She could be home in her county working with others instead of wasting 12 hours on the road plus congesting traffic, polluting the air, wasting fuel.. This ...more »
Photo Cop was the law enforcement technology that took a picture of a vehicle that ran a red light (and it's license plate number), and sent a ticket for the infraction to the registered owner of the vehicle. The use of this technology was deemed to be illegal by the state supreme court. The court determined that the ticket has to go to the driver, not the owner of the vehicle, and Photo Cop only provided information ...more »
